Camps are rarely temporary

At least one in 10 Somalis has been forced out of their home due to conflict. Experience has taught us that camps for displaced people and refugees can become home for as long as 20 years. At this camp in Somalia, families have tried desperately to keep the mosquitoes out by tying plastic sheeting over their huts. The heat inside must be unbearable. Merlin is working closely with the Ministry of Health to oversee the scaling up of the country’s malaria prevention, detection and treatment programme.
