Giving with confidence - Our promise to you

Fundraising Standards Board: Give with confidence

This logo demonstrates that Merlin is a member of the Fundraising Standards Board (FRSB) self-regulatory scheme. The FRSB works to ensure that organisations raising money for charity from the public do so honestly and properly.

As a member of the scheme, we follow the Institute of Fundraising’s Codes of Fundraising Practice and comply with the Code's promise.

In particular, we promise to:

  • Commit to the highest standards - ensuring that fundraisers, volunteers and third party agencies working on behalf of Merlin to raise funds comply with the Codes and with this promise
  • Be honest - we tell the truth, do what we say we are going to do and answer any questions about our fundraising that you might have
  • Be transparent - we are clear about what we do and how we use your gift
  • Be respectful - we will respect the rights and privacy of our supporters and beneficiaries, and will not put undue pressure on you to make a gift. If you prefer us not to contact you in a particular way, we will respect that decision
  • Be fair and reasonable - we will strive not to use images that might cause unjustifiable distress or offence, and we will take care not to cause unreasonable disruption or nuisance
  • Be accountable - if you are unhappy with anything we have done whilst fundraising, you can contact us to make a complaint. If we can’t resolve your complaint we will accept the authority of the Fundraising Standards Board to make a final decision.
