Merlin is co-hosting a Health Exchange lunchtime discussion on human resources for health alongside Healthlink Worldwide and RedR.
Shortages of health workers, work overload leading to low motivation, poor access to training, and migration are some major reasons why health services do not reach poor people in developing countries. The health workforce was low on the agenda for ministries of health and donors alike – partly because the problems seemed unsolvable. The good news is this is changing and there are many efforts to address these critical issues.
Health Exchange Autumn 2009 contains interesting examples from around the world and to mark the new issue, an informal lunchtime discussion will be co-hosted by Healthlink Worldwide, Merlin and RedR.
Tim Martineau, Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine will make a short presentation to start the discussion.
Date: Wednesday 11 November 2009, 12.00 – 2.00pm (Optional half hour networking opportunity 2.00 – 2.30)
Venue: Healthlink Worldwide, 56-64 Leonard Street, London EC2A 4LT
