Eight-year-old Dianna was orphaned prior to the disaster and is among the younger patients treated at Merlin's field hospital. A rock fell on her hand when the earthquake hit, but fortunately Merlin surgeons were able to operate in time to save her hand from amputation. The health team kept Dianna in the in-patient ward for over two weeks to ensure that she would have a complete recovery with no risk of infection.
