Four-and-a-half-year-old Redempta arrived at Lodwar Hospital severely dehydrated and malnourished. She was immediately transferred to Merlin's special unit. Doctors would usually expect a child like Redempta to start showing signs of recovery after a few days of measured feeding and rehydration. But Redempta simply refused to bounce back. Staff ran a series of tests and found she had TB and was HIV positive. Eight weeks on, Redempta's free of TB and will shortly start a course of treatment to keep her healthy.
