In Hijer, South Darfur, more than 170 patients wait under the shade of a tree outside Merlin’s clinic. Around 14,000 people currently live in Hijer, 10,000 of whom have been displaced by fighting and are living in makeshift shelters under extremely harsh conditions. More than two million people across Darfur have been forced to flee their homes since the conflict began in 2003.
